Cool song!

Cool song man! Indeed very vintage like you mentioned, using Fruityloops samples and such. It's not the kind of sound I personally would intent to go for, but sounds nice and addicting. Especially that lead synth you said you made in 3xOsc. I do however think you could have extended the build up a lot, and maybe added effects that would support the transitions into a more powerfull listening experience. Oh and the bassline definitely sounds too loud, it distracts me from the rest of this wonderfull song. Which I am sure; results in that empty feel people mentioned earlier. The bassline is like a background to a movie: If you make it too distracting people won't notice the foreground anymore. Lower the volume of the bassline and it will make the diversity of the song stand out again (:

WritersBlock responds:

Hey WG, thanks for the review.
If I get around to adjusting this song I'll lower the bass and such. I have a bit of trouble with transitions, it'd be good to work on that a bit.
Cheers, man!

It's an alright song (:

The song starts off rather nice, but just as I'm digging the tune, the song is heavily disturbed by the loud sounds of it's main tune. It's not bad or anything, in fact I like the tune. But in my opinion this song is kinda short, and the main tune shouldn't start after 13 seconds but needs a build up. Also I like the little thing you did in the middle there, it's catchy (:

Oijoink responds:

You're right!

I'm left..

I'm feeling Orange.

I came across this when I checked out your submission "Butterflies," which had been frontpaged.

I like the way this is life performed, everything is. It's not perfect, but that's what I love about it so much. It is like a one person jamsession and has a moody but laid back feel to it. Nostalgic maybe. The lead synth in there is very soothing and works in a magical way, it's the perfect touch to this song and played very emotionally. Wonderfully well composed. I loved every second of this piece.

VegetarianMeat responds:

Thank you :)

Yay!

The beginning of this intro song is very classical and nice. I love how the electronic sounding pad goes through, and the harp coming in. It's awesome. Then comes some sort of crash. Great add to the composition. I would made it more powerful by putting in more bass myself.

The drums come in after a while, I love them. A very sweet job on the panning job here. It starts to sound a bit full at this part. I love the lead synth that comes in, though the drums seem to be compressed a lot, which sounds a bit out of place.

The lead synth in time gets very experimental sounding. Very awesome. Towards the end I was hoping for some sort of change in the chords, bringing a sort of epic powerfull feeling to the song. A switch like that works surprisingly powerfull after hearing the same chords playing for some time. The ending to this song was alright. I'm sure it wasn't easy to make up an ending.

-At times the song sounds too full, especially when the drums start. If the intro of a song already sound full, then the rest of the buildup will sadly not emit the power you want it to.
-The compression sounds a little strange to me. The drums sound too much on the background, and the synth lead is on the foreground too much.

Awesome song man! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album ;)

WritersBlock responds:

Thanks whirlyperson!
Yeah, compression and mix and mastering is still a tentative business for me. Although I'm better now than I ever have been, I still can't get that extra punchiness in the drums, like you're drumming directly onto the listener's face.
Thanks for the review. <3

And this will finish up the menu ;D

Whoah man, this is so catchy! Jazz and hiphop in one, I was really hoping for that! The two of you did an awesome job!

Rig responds:

Thanks! It really worked out with the trumpets and piano :D

Whaaa...? o.o

This is just so stunningly good. Definitely my new favourite song of yours. Made with samples from fruityloops and with fruityloops only.. I have heard amazing fruityloops demo songs, but never anything coming close to being as good as this. Your mastering may not be as good as it normally is but DAMN. This song is freaking awesome. I cant wait till you get to completely mastering it! (:

You inspiring bastard harhar!
Hope you enjoy your 10 as much as I enjoyed this song :P

Rig responds:

IT FEELS SO GOOD AGAINST MY SWEATY SKIN :3

lol

Yeah, I had a lot of trouble with the mastering, because I'm mixing with headphones as I had to leave my stereo system (and midi keyboard *tear*) back in Montreal due to the fact that I HAD NO ROOM IN MY LUGGAGE. :(

Glad it works for you, though! I had fun writing it, and will most likely do it again.

I love this song :3

Congratulations on frontpage!

This song builds up beautifully, very well composed! The singing is awesome and clear. Very professional. It sets a very great mood. The solo sounded very cool and the ending is really powerfull!

I see people writing that something misses, and I agree. Its a bassline that misses. Also the panning you used on the guitarstrumming sounds a bit strange without anything to make it sound natural. Like a bassline :3

I really enjoyed this song! I hope you'll put up some lyrics in the comments^-^

Ginchy responds:

yes, i agree on the bass. I never got around to it... but maybe I will now. As far as the panning goes, I cut my teeth listening to stuff that's pre-seventies. They used to pan to the extreme back then out of necessity.

I asked you one thousand times,
now I can't tell the difference yet

I asked you to drive this time,
but I can't tell the difference yet

Say it in your own words this time
so that I don't have to read your lips.

I asked you "what's on your mind?"
Now I can't tell the difference yet

I asked you to drive this time
now I can't tell the difference yet

Say it in your own words this time
so that I don't have to read your lips

awesome? O_o yeah!

Omg! Stop giving me all these satanic messages yuo bish! D:<

Wow, when you just linked me here, I thought it was a project just for the heck of it. But I listened, and heard these... FRIKIN awesome beats! I sure as hell enjoyed this alot. Though the whole reversed thing... Well I like it, just not a full song backwards lol.

Rig responds:

The voices are telling me to KILL YOU GAHAHHGHADKJZFOosal

And such.

Thanks for the review! :D

Arhhhh :3

Climate storm!

I wont lie to you, I had to look back hehe. Its quite cool, you had me looking back through your old stuff, and I found songs that I almost forgot about! Boy oh boy! Mind if I would remix a song of you sometime? :3

RyeGuyHead responds:

I would be honored, take your pick.

dude....

Hahaha, I never expected something like this when you said you were going to remix one of Ronay's songs. Omfg! XD

Holy shit great job dude!

Rig responds:

Lol, thanks. :D
