Dude this is great! very replayable haha! When'd you make this anyway? I don't remember seeing you work on this. Congrats on the frontpage feature :D

jessejayjones responds:

Thanks! It's a dumb thing I made in a day, for celebrating 20k subs on YouTube. It was fun to work on! :)

This was mostly just sketches and linework when I last saw you on twitch. Turned out great! Very expressive postures and great job coloring!

jessejayjones responds:

Thank you so much man! It's great hanging with you on Twitch! :D

Oh, it's here! I've had a great time watching you make this on twitch. Keep it up man!

jessejayjones responds:

Thank you so much dude!! It's always great seeing you on stream! :D

Cool man, did you use toonboom to make this? Love the lines and tones, not to mention the video distortion. Nice touch! The frame by frame work is really playful and looks superb! I very much like how the distance between character and point of view is under constant change. It creates a nice sense of depth. The choreography is all over the place, but other than that I'm liking this very much!

jessejayjones responds:

Thank you @Whirlguy! I animated the roughs in Toon Boom, cleaned it up in Photoshop, then composited and added the glitch effects using After Effects! :)

I can safely say this is one of my favorite things from this year. I am so happy this animation exists! It points out all today's limitations, but keeps a positive point of view, and leaves a fantastic message to the community. I say; don't change a thing. Everyone should watch this. This is awesome!

artistunknown responds:

Wow, one of your favorite things this year? That makes me feel really good :3

I'm really at a loss for words. I guess I just succeeded at what I set out to do, and did it well.

I'm glad you liked this so much. I'm not sure why this hasn't gotten a lot of attention yet, but yeah, everyone should definitely watch this. Only good would come out of it ;3

Thanks for the review and the great encouragement! :D

Hahaha, this is excellent Jesse. I should have gone and reviewed this back in June. Congrats on your frontpage! Hope to see more of your flashes in the future.

jessejayjones responds:

Haha, no worries Yoop! Thank you for stopping by and for the kind words. I look forward to showing you more of my animations in the future! :)

Ha, I used to play that game

In my personal opinion this should have gotten a better score. It's a strange and rather random animation but also entertaining and fun. The whole thing was set up nicely and fitted with the music quite well. I especially like the backgrounds you used. They're energetic and fun.

What I think is a little of a downside, is that you drew some of the things in flash, they look so out of place! I think it would have been better if you took the time to pixelate a watering can and pot by yourself.

ShadowWhoWalks responds:

wow, a helpful review, what. Pixellated object is a good concept, will attempt next time.

I would've gotten a 3.86 if I submit the same thing, and swap the characters with Phoenix Wright

You should finish it!

Short but awesome. I liked the use of colors, and the drawings of every scene were very detailed, although you could have spent more time on perspectives. For example; the right window in Ness' room looks strange. Actually Ness' room looks strange in overal. It looks like you drew everything in color first, and added outlines after that. It almost leaves the impression that you traced it, but noticing the wobbly lines in every scene makes me doubt that.
Also I noticed you added shading using a brushtool, which leaves marks in the outlining. I recommend using a pencil tool instead. You just pull a line, then use the fill tool to color in the shading. Dubbleclick the pencil line and press delete. Easy as hell and it looks neat.
You should also have added a preloader. If you don't know how to make one, you can download one on Newgrounds.
The music was a great fit, I would have loved to see this finished. I bet everyone who has played Earthbound would enjoy this cartoon. If this was finished it would have given it a 9 for sure!

NessSuccess responds:

Thanks for the review, and the advice. Im not very good at flash. I find short cuts for everything. But thanks for that tid bit about the pencil.

This is quite intersting

As I started the flash the graphics didn't seem to be all that amazing, though I watched the story unfold and liked the whole concept. The story's plot is actually strangely philosophic, and might(who knows) even be reality. I've been thinking about such posibilities myself :P

Your drawingstyle is simplistic and even looks very rushed, but the overal movie was very well planned out and was enjoyable to watch. I would have liked it a lot better if you spent more time to work on the graphics though. Especially the main characters looked very dull as they were just circles with little bit of color on the top, but I did like the concept of textfaces.

Overal it was a very interesting, original and entertaining movie.

xxSHIFTxx responds:

Like I say in my profile, I can't draw... so I always go for simple character design and I try to get something a bit conceptual. You know, like you get what it is even if it's not that impressive.

Glad you liked the movie
